First Impressions: It Really is Paradise
Sandals Grande St. Lucian is one of the most popular Sandals Resorts in the Caribbean, and for a good reason. With the Caribbean Sea on one side and the Atlantic on the other, it has the wow factor that many of our clients look for. Our favorite part about arriving here, is the view you get from the lobby when you get out of your transfer and start to take in the surroundings. It's hard to describe the feeling you get and even harder to catch it in a photo. For us and our clients, it's the one that many keep going back to.
The Accommodations: Beautiful Beachfront Views
As one of the top Sandals travel advisors in the United States, we've booked this resort hundreds of times and are familiar with the room categories. While it's not the newest Sandals resort, it is still modern with elegantly designed rooms.
We stayed in a Rondoval suite, and I can honestly say it's one of the best room categories at Sandals Grande St Lucian. Each rondoval comes with its own private plunge pool, hammocks, and even an outdoor shower. It's not entirely private, but it's private enough. :) The suite features a king-sized bed, an expansive bathroom with a soaking tub, and a stocked bar with premium spirits.
For those who prefer more traditional rooms, the Cap Estate Beachfront Village Rooms on the Caribbean side are our favorite Club Level accommodations. Each has ocean views, private terraces, and direct access to the beach, with elevators for those who need one.
Dining: A Culinary Journey Around the Globe
Food is one of the main reasons to stay at any Sandals resort, and Sandals Grande St. Lucian is no exception. With 12 world-class dining options, we were never at a loss for where to eat—and no matter where we dined, Angela's vegan dietary requirement was never too much trouble.
One of our must-dos is a visit to Gordon's Pier Restaurant, where you'll see yachts and sailboats gracefully docked in the harbor. Situated on the resort's dock, this outdoor restaurant offers a unique twist on popular seafood dishes, making it ideal for romantic dinners for two. My favorite dish here is the Jamaican-style steamed Snapper Filllet. It's SO good!
For something more upscale, Sandals La Toc has a French-inspired restaurant that offers gourmet cuisine in an intimate, elegant setting. The wine list is extensive, and the meals are beautifully presented. The Kimonos restaurant is the go-to teppanyaki dining experience and, as usual, is a personal favorite.
Breakfast is always a hit here, and Bayside is the place to be. Of course, those of you in butler or club level room can opt for room service, which is always a great way to start the day!
Activities and Entertainment: Something for Everyone
One of the things we love the most about Sandals Grande St. Lucian and Saint Lucia itself are the available activities. Just off the resort, you can visit Pigeon Island National Park, where, for a small entry fee of $7$, you'll get a glimpse of the history here. You can even hike to a fort, where, on clear days, the neighboring islands are visible.
If you love the water, non-motorized water sports like kayaking, windsurfing, snorkeling, and paddleboarding are available. You can even snorkel off the beach around the main pier and see everything from tropical fish to coral.
For those who love scuba diving, the resort offers complimentary dives for certified divers, or you can take lessons to earn your PADI certification. The dive sites near the resort are pretty good, but the best ones are near the Pitons, so check with the dive shop to find out which days they'll go there.
The resort also offers land-based activities such as tennis and volleyball and a well-equipped fitness center with professionals on-site to guide your training. If you're looking to really relax, the Red Lane® Spa is a must, and our favorite is always the lavender scalp massage.
When it comes to nightlife, the resort truly shines. With live music, karaoke, beach parties, and themed events, there's always something going on after dark. The sunset views with a cocktail in hand are the best way to end the day, followed by a night of entertainment at The Cricketer's Pub — a laid-back, fun spot for grabbing a drink and enjoying a relaxed evening with new friends.
