For those familiar with our travels, you'll know that Saint Lucia has a very special place in our hearts, and as travel advisors specializing in Sandals, we're always on the lookout for a new spot to recommend.

Historically speaking, this has not been top of mind when compared to the other two in St. Lucia, but that has started to change, especially with the recent updates that Sandals Halcyon Beach has received over the past 18 months.

Before we get into our Sandals Halcyon Review and Trip Report, let's talk about the resort itself.

Sandals Halcyon Beach is a charming adults-only all-inclusive resort along a peaceful stretch of white sand beach. This is more of a boutique-style resort with bespoke services, which, for that reason alone, makes it one of our favorite Sandals properties for anyone seeking that perfect place to unwind under swaying palm trees.

This is a quieter resort, but there is still plenty to keep you occupied if you're the type of person who needs a bit of excitement.

Arrival & First Impressions:

Getting to the Resort

There are a couple of ways to get to Sandals Halcyon Beach, with the most common entry point being through Hewanorra International Airport (UVF). From there, Sandals includes a complimentary shuttle transfer, which takes about 75/90 minutes, depending on traffic.

One of our favorite ways to get to Gros Islet is using the helicopter transfer through St. Lucia Helicopters. This service will take you to the George F. L. Charles Airport (SLU), located just a few miles away from the resort. Once you've landed (in style), you'll take a quick taxi provided by the transfer company, and you'll be at the resort within 15 minutes.

Back to our trip report!

When Angela and I pulled up to the open-air resort lobby, we immediately noticed the palm trees framing the entrance. The concierge staff greeted us with a cold drink and the signature lemongrass-scented towel, which is always the best way to start a trip.

Since we did our online check-in through the Sandals app, completing this arrival process was quick and refreshingly simple. After we received our welcome package, the resort staff gave us a rundown of the property and explained how we could have access to their sister resorts, Sandals Regency La Toc, and Sandals Grande St. Lucian, under the "Stay at 1, Play at 3" program. We've always loved that about Sandals in Saint Lucia, and they immediately made us reservations for the French restaurant at La Toc.

Our Room: Beachfront Honeymoon Walkout Club Level Room w/ Patio Tranquility Soaking Tub (WBT)

We love the ocean, and while the pools are great, we want to be as close to the water as possible, so we booked a beachfront walkout room for this part of our stay. Starting at $467.00 per person per night, the Beachfront Honeymoon Walkout Club Level Room w/ Patio Tranquility Soaking Tub is not the least expensive club-level room, but we feel the value is there given its proximity to the ocean.

This newly renovated walkout beachfront room in the Marigot Building has everything you've come to expect from Sandals. Angela particularly liked the spa-style bathroom with soaking tub.

One thing to note: At Sandals, you'll see beachfront, oceanfront, and ocean views. Understanding those definitions will help you greatly when selecting your accommodations.

Here is the key information:

  1. Beachfront = Close to the water with expanded ocean views and beach access from your suite.

  2. Oceanfront = Closer to the water but may be on a higher floor, overlooking the ocean.

  3. Oceanview = Further away from the water and may include a peak or obstructed view of the ocean.

What makes Sandals Halcyon Beach our 16th choice for the Best Sandals Resort?

So, yes, this resort is further down on our list with a Rivage Travel score of 8.1/10, but that doesn't mean it's not a great resort; it's just important to know what it offers compared to others.

The answer? It's the cozy atmosphere that stands out. Where some bigger Sandals properties can feel a bit busy, Halcyon Beach delivers a more intimate setting, and most of our clients prefer a place with more action. At Sandals Halcyon, you can walk the entire resort with ease, and each corner carries a sense of warmth and relaxation. As stated before, more of our clients prefer the expanded hustle of larger resorts, but for those who want a quieter vibe, this is the spot.

On top of that, the staff is amazing, and they display true kindness and sincerity. It'll make you feel like part of the family, which is a nice touch.

Sandals Halcyon Beach Resort is located on the northwest coast of St. Lucia, a Caribbean island known for its natural beauty, twin peaks, and deep blue waters. The resort is surrounded by lush tropical gardens, and the entire setting has an intimate feel to it—no crowds, no long lines, just an easy-going atmosphere that appeals to couples and anyone seeking a gentle retreat.

Being only 6 miles from (SLU) the smaller airport, this makes it a great option for a split stay with Sandals Saint Vincent or Sandals Grenada, as you can get daily flights from those islands, which are both less than 30 minutes.

Not having to take the long transfer from UVF means you'll spend more time on Halcyon's beautiful beach and less time on the road, most of which are winding for those prone to car sickness. The resort is also close to local hotspots: you can visit Sandals Grande St. Lucian and walk over to Pigeon Island National Park for a dose of history or spend an afternoon exploring the Castries area.

  • According to Trip Advisor, Sandals Halcyon Beach Resort has one of the highest guest satisfaction rates, with 86% rating it as 'Very good' or 'Excellent' and an average score of 4.5 out of 5.

  • All meals, unlimited premium liquors, local beers, and activities (like water skiing and scuba diving) are included.

  • Club and butler-level room categories include room service.

  • Exchange Privileges: Under the "Stay at 1, Play at 3" program, you can visit Sandals Regency La Toc and Sandals Grande St. Lucian using the complimentary inter-resort shuttle.

  • The resort offers several luxe room types, from Beachfront Honeymoon Walkout Club-Level rooms to the Halcyon Shore House Butler Suite with a balcony Tranquility Soaking Tub. All rooms have ocean or pool views and offer in-room perks like free WiFi and fully stocked minibars.

  • Features six specialty dining restaurants, including Kelly's Dockside (seafood and Mediterranean), Soy (sushi bar), and casual spots like the Beach Bistro.

  • Sandals Halcyon is six miles from George F. L. Charles Airport (SLU) and 35 miles from the Hewanorra International Airport (UVF).

Accommodation Options at Sandals Halcyon Beach

Sandals Halcyon Beach is located on twenty-two acres and features 194 rooms across thirteen categories. Prices start at $291.00 per person per night.

As part of our stay, we did a resort tour to see the different room categories.

Crystal Lagoon Poolside Luxury Level Room (PL)

Sandals Halcyon has only one luxury-level room category. At $291.00 per person per night, it is located on the second level of the Mon Repos, Vieux Fort, Prasline, or Roseau buildings and overlooks the longest pool on the island.

Beachfront Honeymoon Walkout Club Level Room (WBT)

This was our first time staying at Sandals Halcyon Beach, and I am glad we selected this room. At $467.00 per person per night, it's conveniently located near the resort amenities and feels like a retreat. You open your patio door, take a few steps off the patio, and you're on the beach. Inside, there's a four-poster king-size bed, a stocked minibar, and a comfortable seating area. It's so relaxing!

Crystal Lagoon Walkout Swim-up Club Level (WPL)

If you love being near the water but also want some seclusion, you'll like these rooms. Priced from $408.00, they're just steps from the Crystal Lagoon pool, surrounded by tropical foliage. Expect a private balcony or patio with the Club Sandals concierge services.

Halcyon Shore House Butler Suite w/Private Pool (JPB)

We love the beach, so we had to highlight this brand new room category as it is both Beachfront and oceanfront and has an ocean view with a Pool. What more does anyone need? If you've ever dreamed of lounging in your private pool with a glass of champagne while gazing at the Caribbean sunset, this could be the top consideration. Priced at $737.00 per person per night, the Halcyon Shore House Butler Suite w/Private Pool is a beautifully appointed room that would be a great fit for those who want butler service while being close to the water.

Koko Rondoval Butler Villa w/Private Pool (RPP)

Stunning... There really isn't more to say, but I'll try. These are brand-new room categories at Sandals Halcyon. Priced at $686.00 per person per night, the Koko Rondoval Butler Villa w/Private Pool is one of the most affordable butler-level accommodations in the Sandals portfolio. It's completely private and is impeccably designed. This would be a top recommendation for an anniversary or milestone celebration.

Room Amenities

All Sandals Halcyon Beach Rooms come with standard comforts like air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and Free WiFi. There's also daily housekeeping and Laundry service (at an additional cost). For those who want a bit of pampering, an Oceanview Club Level Room can be a solid middle ground, providing extra perks of the concierge services without going all-out on butler service.

Things to do in Sandals Halcyon Beach

Activities and Entertainment

Water lovers can go all out with scuba diving (PADI / NAUI certification required), snorkeling, water skiing, or kayaking. Land-based fun includes tennis courts, pool tables, and a fitness center. I love the scuba diving here, especially on the days when they visit the Pitons. There is nothing more special than breaching the water after your safety stop and seeing the incredible peaks of the Pitons towering around you!

On resort activities

The entertainment team organizes pool parties, bingo, and beach volleyball games. If you prefer to relax, read a good book by the outdoor pool or take a quiet stroll around the gardens.

Wellness and Spa

The Red Lane Spa is your chance to indulge. It offers massages, facials, and various treatments, which are an extra expense. Our top recommendation is the couples massage with the 30-minute lavender scalp massage add-on.

Entertainment and Nightlife

Evening Entertainment includes live music and performances or theme nights including the Chocolate buffet on Fridays.

What to See at Sandals Halcyon Beach

Stroll along the beach early in the morning and take in the views. If, in the afternoon, you're ready to mingle, head over to the main pool to make some new friends and share stories. The Gift shop is worth a quick peek if you'd like local souvenirs or small necessities.

Weddings and Honeymoons

Because Sandals Halycon Beach is known for couples-only experiences, you'll find wedding planners on-site, ready to help with romantic events. The resort offers a variety of wedding packages that transform the beach or garden into a dreamy backdrop. If you're on your honeymoon, the resort often throws in special extras—like sparkling wine or breakfast in bed—to make your stay extra special.

Travel Agent Insider Tips for Booking Sandals Montego Bay

  1. Shaded Beach Spots: Snagging a good beach chair can require an early start, especially during peak times of the year.

  2. Dress Code: Most restaurants on property have a resort-casual dress code, though some places (like Mario's) suggest evening attire. It's always a good idea to pack a few nicer outfits.

  3. Local Tours: Island Routes, affiliated with Sandals, can arrange local adventures, including mud baths, ziplining, or boat excursions.

  4. Room Upgrades: Sandals Halcyon Reviews suggest that it can be worth spending a bit more for butler service if you enjoy personalized attention.

How Sandals Halcyon Beach Compares to Other Sandals Resorts

Our clients love Sandals Regency La Toc for its hillside bluffs and ocean views. Sandals Grande St. Lucian is the place to be for those who want a resort with a perfect beach experience while being close to the Cap Estate Golf and Country Club, which features an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Greg Norman.

Sandals Halcyon Beach, in contrast, feels like the perfect location for those seeking a slower-paced experience. If you want a more lively setting, you can always hop on the complimentary shuttle and come back whenever you need that cozy escape.

For us, that balance of calm and closeness to the action is what sets Sandals Halcyon Beach apart.
